Modeling Base

Modeling bases

Every model is printed on its own modeling base. Made of recyclable plastic, the modeling base provides a smooth, readily removable surface on which the model is printed. Once printing is done, you simply take the modeling base out of the build chamber and remove the completed model. The used modeling base can then be recycled with other plastics.

Material Bay

Material bays

Both modeling and support materials are fed to the uPrint extrusion head from the material bay. A material carrier containing a spool of support material is inside the left half of the material bay; modeling material is on the right. Solid filaments of both materials are fed through tubes from the bay up to the extrusion head, where they're liquefied and deposited on the modeling base.

One material bay is included as part of the uPrint Plus Personal 3D Printing System. Many users buy a second material bay, which installs under the first. A second bay gives you twice the uninterrupted print capacity of a single bay since uPrint can automatically switch between them. It also gives you the flexibility of loading material carriers into one bay while the other is supplying materials to the printer.

Support Removal

Support removal

uPrint Plus uses Soluble Support Technology (SST) with a model support material that dissolves away in a soluble solution, providing a hands-free process.

We highly recommend the purchase of a uPrint support removal system to handle this process. You just pop your completed model off the modeling base and place it in the support removal tank. The support removal system maintains the right solution temperature and agitation for efficient support removal.

Display panel tells you your uPrint Plus printer status, and lets you directly interact with its operation. Also indicates stand-by and power-down modes.

Extrusion head heats solid filaments of modeling and support material into a semi-liquid state. Then, the head makes extremely precise movements to deposit the materials through separate tips onto the modeling base.

Modeling base is the platform on which each model is printed. The modeling base moves down as the extrusion head deposits each layer of material.

Material bay contains two material carriers: support material on the left and modeling material on the right. An optional second material bay can be installed underneath the first bay for twice the uninterrupted print capacity.
